Donate a Computer
At the World Help Center, we strive to bridge the digital divide by collecting high-quality, pre-owned IT equipment from companies and organizations across the globe. We ensure that the entire collection process is handled professionally and at no cost to the donor, making it easier for companies to support our mission of empowering underprivileged communities with technology.
Collection of Donated Equipment
The World Help Center coordinates the collection of A-brand used IT equipment, provided that certain conditions are met to ensure the quality and efficiency of the donation process:
-
Volume Requirements:
- We collaborate with companies starting from a minimum volume of approximately 30 assets per donation. This can include a variety of equipment such as mobile phones, tablets, laptops, desktops, Multi-Functional Printers, servers, network equipment, screens, and more.
- Ideally, the equipment should come from the same batch, which allows us to provide beneficiary projects with computers that have consistent specifications. This uniformity not only enhances the user experience but also helps us reduce overhead costs associated with refurbishment and maintenance.
-
Minimum Specification Requirements:
- To ensure the equipment can be effectively refurbished and put to good use, we require the following minimum specifications:
- Desktops: Intel Core i3 with 4GB RAM
- Laptops: Intel Core i3 with 4GB RAM
- Screens: 19” TFT flat screens
- Printers: Laserjet
- Smartphones and Tablets
- Networking Equipment: Routers, servers, etc.
- Thin-Client Workstations
- While we prioritize equipment that meets these specifications, we understand that companies may have other items that do not fully comply. Depending on the volume and overall quality of the donation, we can still accept and manage such contributions.
- To ensure the equipment can be effectively refurbished and put to good use, we require the following minimum specifications:
The Refurbishment Process
Once the equipment is collected, the World Help Center works with professional refurbishment partners to restore it to optimal condition, ensuring it can be effectively used in educational and social projects. The refurbishment process includes:
-
Cleaning and Repairing: All assets undergo thorough cleaning and repairs to ensure they meet our high-quality standards.
-
Data Erasure: We use Blancco solutions to securely erase all data from hard drive disks, eliminating any risk of data breaches. Your company’s sensitive information is protected throughout this process.
-
Recycling: Equipment that cannot be refurbished is responsibly recycled, contributing to our commitment to environmental sustainability.
Reporting and Transparency
Approximately six weeks after the collection, we provide each donor with a detailed status report. This report includes:
- The quality assessment of each donated asset is listed by its original serial number and tracking number (if applicable).
- Certificates for data wiping and any asset destruction, ensuring complete transparency and security for your company.
Our comprehensive reporting ensures that you can track the impact of your donation and rest assured that your equipment has been managed responsibly.
